School News

School Resource Officer is a police officer assigned to work in the school setting investigating crimes, conducting presentations, and acting as a liaison between the police and the school.

The Easton Police Department has two full-time School Resource Officers:

Officer George Allen
Oliver Ames High School

Officer Allen maintains an office at the Oliver Ames High School and is available Monday  through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Officer Allen can be contacted via email at gallen@easton.k12.ma.us or 508-230-3210, ext. 1416.

 

 

 

Officer Carolyn Gurney
Southeastern Regional
Vocational Technical High School


Officer Gurney is assigned to the Southeastern Regional School as the School Resource Officer.  She performs police duties on school grounds to provide a safe environment for the students and staff.  Officer Gurney has been a full time police officer in Easton since 1998.  She is a certified member of the National Association of School Resource Officers.   Duties of the School Resource Officer may include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Working with the attendance office to assist with truancy matters. 
  • Member of the School Safety Team.
  • Working closely with the Behavior Management Team, Guidance and the Administration to promote open lines of communication between law enforcement and the school.
  • Member of the Students At-Risk Team.  Involved with mentoring students and monitoring them through progress reports and meetings.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Plymouth and Bristol County District Attorney’s Office regarding youthful offenders.
  • Assists the Criminal Justice Program by teaching law related topics and arranging for guest speakers and demonstrations.
  • Serves as a positive role model to promote and enhance the image of police officers and the law enforcement profession.
  • Monitors student activity in the school parking lot before and after school to promote safe driving.
